Anna Ruby is from Westminser, MD and is a 2019 Check-Hers alumna (played 12 years), who was a stand out athlete at both Westminster High School and Loyola University. She was integral to helping the WHS team win the Class 3A state championships in each of her final two seasons. Anna earned Baltimore Sun first team All-State accolades as a junior in 2018, tallying 59 goals and leading Westminster to its first-ever state title. She was chosen as Offensive Player of the Game in 2018 3A state championship.
Recovering from injury, she still added second team All-State honors while helping WHS repeat as state champions in 2019, contributing 45 goals and setting high school career highs in assists (25), draws (116) and caused turnovers (26) . Anna was named first team All-Carroll County in 2018 and 2019, second team All-Carroll County in 2017. She was also on the Maximum Exposure All-Star team (2017) and IL Women Magazine’s Junior Watchlist, played lacrosse for Under Armour Baltimore Highlight (2017), Under Armour Baltimore Command (2016).
At Loyola, Anna worked her way to a starting position by the 2023 season, and finished her career with 98 points for the Hounds as well as several Patriot League Championships and NCAA playoff game appearances. She was also awarded the 2022-23 Diane Geppi-Aikens Endowed Scholarship, truly a student-athlete. Anna has also been an active leader and volunteer on campus through her work with Morgan’s Message, the Student Athlete Advisory Committee and the Fellowship of Christian Athletes.
Anna has assistant coached Check-Hers 2024, 2025 & 2031 and has remained involved with Westminster Area Lacrosse as a volunteer. She brings her lacrosse acumen and approachable leadership to her role as a Check-Hers coach.
